Biography

Zainab Lawal is a Ph.D. candidate (Law) focusing her research on women’s health, reproductive violence and Indigenous women's rights. She holds an LLM from Nottingham Trent University, where she provided pro bono services at the Legal Aid Centre.

Zainab is the founder of The Shield Institute, an advocacy group dedicated to advancing women's rights in the new era of emerging technologies in healthcare. She is also a member of the Open AIR Research Team, Centre for Law Technology and Society, at the University of Ottawa.
