The University of Ottawa’s Common Law Section recently competed in this year’s Laskin Moot Court Competition, a bilingual moot competition that focuses on Canadian Constitutional and Administrative Law. The team members, Brandon Orct, Jason Bagnall, Laura Abrioux and Andréa Morin prepared a fictional case based on the Corrections and Conditional Release Act. After a long weekend of pleadings, this year’s team adds to a long history of success at the Laskin. Andréa Morin and Laura Abrioux, finalists, placed as third best pair in the competition after their performance before a bench of judges including the Honourable Mahmud Jamal. The entire team also came in third place overall. Special thanks to Marie-Pier Dupont and Jean-Simon Schoenholz for their coaching and support throughout the entire process.
