Last November, the Faculty of Law hosted the first-ever Game Jam in the University's history. Following the success of the first edition, organizers decided to do it again, but this time on campus! Alexandre Lillo, Assistant Director of the Environmental Law Centre, lecturer, and doctoral student at the Faculty of Law, Thomas Burelli, professor in the Civil Law Section, and David MacDonald, pedagogical advisor with the Teaching and Learning Support Service, will be organizing a major inter-faculty and interdisciplinary Game Jam to be held next fall! All students at the University of Ottawa will be called upon to compete for top honours.
But what exactly is a Game Jam?
A Game Jam is an event during which participants must create a game, in any form, related to a subject of educational importance. In this way, the game is used as an active learning approach that places students at the centre of the experience. In this case, a theme will be provided to the participants, but it is of course kept secret for now!
