The University of Ottawa Press just released Intellectual Property Futures, a new collection co-edited by Dr. Alexandra Mogyoros to explore the trajectories and challenges of intellectual property law and policy in the global landscape.

Over the past few decades, the global intellectual property (IP) system has undergone significant changes, marked by shifts between multilateral and bilateral or regional approaches. There has been increasing recognition of the diverse ways in which IP intersects with and influences fields like human rights, development, trade, and social justice. The economic importance of many IP rights has gained widespread acknowledgment, alongside critical theoretical perspectives that question the foundational values of the global IP framework.

Dr. Alexandra Mogyoros, along with Graham J. Reynolds and Dr. Teshager Dagne, co-edited Intellectual Property Futures: Exploring the Global Landscape of IP Law and Policy.  It explores the evolution of intellectual property and the impact of major transformations, crises and global upheavals on the protection and management of IP laws. It aims to better understand these changes in order to anticipate the future of intellectual property.

Dr. Alexandra Mogyoros is an Associate Member of the University of Ottawa Centre for Law, Technology and Society and an Assistant Professor within the Faculty of Law at Toronto Metropolitan University. Together with the other authors, she proposes in this book a re-examination of international agreements, a rethinking of Canadian intellectual property law, and a plea for recognition of Indigenous legal traditions.

This collection is an essential resource for researchers, policymakers and legal professionals wishing to anticipate and understand the future challenges of protecting innovation and balancing access to knowledge with economic incentives.

The book is now available with the University of Ottawa Press
