As Writer in Residence, professor Lindberg will give lectures, hold in class conversations with UBC students and faculty and mentor students individually. She will also work on a sequel to her bestselling novel Birdie.
Professor Lindberg is from the Kelly Lake Cree Nation Community and is a citizen of As’in’i’wa’chi Ni’yaw Nation, Rocky Mountain Cree. Her novel Birdie was a finalist for the Kobo Emerging Writer Award and the 2016 edition of CBC’s Canada Reads. It was long-listed for the 2017 Dublin International Literary Prize, the OLA Evergreen Award and was nominated for the 2016 Alberta Literary Awards. In 2017, Professor Lindberg was a juror for the Rogers Trust Fiction prize. She has also won awards for her academic writing and was inducted into the Royal Society of Canada’s College of New Scholars, Artists and Scientists in 2018. Professor Lindberg currently lives on Algonquin territory.
