Through a 9-year partnership with the Faculty of Law at the University of Ottawa, The United Nations has recently completed its preparation of twelve studies for the Repertory of the Practice of the United Nations.
The Repertory is a legal publication containing analytical studies on the decisions of the Principal Organs of the United Nations under each of the Articles of the Charter of the United Nations. During the past nine years, dozens of studies for the Repertory have been prepared both in English and French, in collaboration with the Faculty of Law. In the spring of 2019, under the supervision of part-time professor Saeid Mirzaei Yengejeh, thirteen graduate and JD students prepared twelve studies on Charter Articles 12, 14, 19, 27, 29, 34, 35, 40, 52, 53, 99 and 103 for supplement 11 of the Repertory, covering the period from 2010 to 2015.
In his report to the 74th session of the General Assembly, The Secretary-General of the United Nations commended the cooperation between the United Nations and the Faculty of Law on the preparation of the Repertory studies. The report states that in 2019, "The well-established cooperation for the past nine years with the Faculty of Law at the University of Ottawa contributed to the preparation of 12 studies, on Articles 12, 14 and 19 for volume II, Articles 27, 29, 34, 35, 40, 52 and 53 for volume III and Articles 99 and 103 for volume VI of Supplement No. 11.”

Students can get involved in this partnership through the “Seminar on Documenting UN Practice", CML 4108 and DCL 6121, which will be taught for the 10th consecutive year in the Winter 2020 session. Registration for the seminar is now open for graduate and upper year students.
