Our uOttawa Walsh Negotiation team brought home all first place awards at the province-wide Walsh Family Law Negotiation Competition held on March 5, 2022:

1st place Best Team (Walsh Cup winners): Jeremy Cooney and Emma Runzer-Boucher

1st and 2nd place Best Individual Student: Jeremy Cooney; Kendal Lander

1st place Best Written Negotiation Plan: Kendal Lander and Samantha Savage

The Walsh Negotiation team included students Danielle Bélanger-Corbin, Eryn Heidel, and Brandon MacDonald who were integral in the team’s preparation, training, and ultimate success at the competition.

Professor Lynn Rockman, coach of uOttawa’s team, stated: “I am so proud of the dedication and commitment of the entire team. They worked tirelessly. They were so enthusiastic and eager to learn throughout the rigorous training. They were truly a joy to coach.”

Professor Rockman also stated that she is grateful for the assistance of Prof. Robert Barnes as well as practitioners and former uOttawa common law students Rachel Zweig, Crystal McConkey and Liz Kabesh.

Students qualify for uOttawa’s Walsh negotiation team by winning the local negotiation competition run by Professor Rockman each fall, the BLG Negotiation Competition in Family Law. Professor Rockman is grateful for the continued collaboration with Katherine Cooligan of Borden Ladner Gervais LLP.
