Statement by Dean Adam Dodek on the Atlanta Shooting and Anti-Asian Discrimination and Violence
We are devastated by the news of yesterday’s shootings in Georgia which left 8 people dead and countless families and community members heartbroken. We recognize the shock, the hurt, and the fear born of this horrific act of violence within Asian communities across North America.

We acknowledge, and are deeply troubled by, the increase in anti-Asian discrimination and violence in the United States and within our own communities here in Canada during the COVID-19 pandemic. We condemn it in no uncertain terms.

We hope that our community members will remember that even if you are by yourself, you are not alone.  We stand together with you and are here to support you however we are able. Students may reach out directly to Rand Al-Houssan, the Faculty’s Mental Health and Wellness Counsellor at [email protected] to book individual support appointments, and a list of additional mental health supports for students is available

Staff and faculty requiring support during these difficult days may avail themselves of the Employee and Family Assistance Plans available.
