The Department of Anesthesiology and Pain Medicine at the University of Ottawa is committed to improving patient outcomes in perioperative and pain medicine through research.
Our research programs cover a breadth of topics, including frailty, knowledge translation, 'bench-to-bedside' research, and global health.
Our programmes work together and with a wide range of health professionals to bring best evidence and novel solutions to the bedside. We integrate our work with partners including:
- Ottawa Hospital Research Institute
- University of Ottawa Heart Institute
- Children's Hospital of Eastern Ontario Research Institute
- University of Ottawa Skills and Simulation Centre
- Department of Innovation in Medical Education.
Our Department is invested in knowledge creation and translation, you will find our science published in top journals and cited by health policy. Our faculty directly supports our researchers through the University of Ottawa Anesthesiology Research Grants competition. Our trainees present their research and quality improvement projects at the annual Gary Johnson Research Day.
Our mission is to move knowledge from the lab, to the health provider, and into practice so that we can improve the lives of our patients. We hope that you'll join us.
