The Annual PGME Professional Development Day

Business leadership conference speaker

We recently had our first Annual PGME Professional Development Day. What an enormous success with 140 attendees, four interactive workshops, lots of discussion, and sharing of experiences!

This professional development day is a collaboration between the University of Ottawa Postgraduate Medical Education, Continuing Professional Development, and the Centre for Innovation in Medical Education (CiMED), designed for program directors, program administrators, competence committee chairs, and other leaders in PGME.

The day featured thought-provoking workshops such as:

  • “Program Obligations: Looking through the PARO looking glass”
  • “Developing safe learning environments”
  • “On the journey of a resident in difficulty: the path to resources and avoiding the pitfalls”
  • “Learning trajectories: tailoring to your learners’ trajectory”

Participants shared overwhelmingly positive feedback, emphasizing how the sessions provided practical tips and strategies to use in learner remediation and fostering educational success. Many highlighted the value of engaging discussions and collaborative problem-solving opportunities throughout the day.

Join us next year for the 2nd Annual PGME Professional Development Day in Fall 2025! More information will soon be available, including a “Save the Date” announcement.
