What we offer you
The goal is to provide graduates the competencies to practice as a palliative care physician.
The curriculum addresses the management of physical symptoms and psychosocial, spiritual, and ethical dimensions of care for persons with advanced life-threatening illness.
Trainees participate in research and educational activities with faculty and complete a scholarly project. The curriculum of the Palliative Medicine Fellowship mirrors that of the Palliative Medicine Residency Program in Enhanced Skills Family Practice. However, the Fellowship exists to allow access to training for candidates that do not have FRCPSC or CCFP designation.
Fellows will experience a broad range of exposure to patients with malignant and non-malignant illness. Experience is gained from one of the largest palliative care units and consultation services in Canada with an internationally recognized faculty. Primary teaching sites include The Ottawa Hospital and Bruyère Continuing Care. The program excels in interprofessional collaboration and integration of palliative care with medical, oncologic, surgical, and primary care services across the Ottawa region.
