Biography
Dr. Asad Mir Ghassemi is currently serving as the Anesthesiology Program Director at the University of Ottawa. His academic journey is marked by notable achievements. He completed his anesthesiology residency training in Ottawa in 2016, following which he pursued a fellowship in perioperative echocardiography at the University of Ottawa in 2017. His commitment to excellence is evident in his certification of Advanced Perioperative Transesophageal Echocardiography. Further enhancing his skill set, Dr. Mir Ghassemi holds certification in Critical Care ultrasound from the esteemed American Academy of Chest Physicians. His pursuit of knowledge led him to attain a master's degree in healthcare quality from Queen's University, showcasing his dedication to continuous improvement in patient care and safety. Dr. Mir Ghassemi's academic journey has been marked by his commitment to education and research. He served as an Assistant Professor at Queen's University from 2017 to 2018 before joining the University of Ottawa in October 2018. His clinical pursuits encompass a diverse range of areas, including medical education, vascular anesthesia, perioperative hemodynamic echocardiography, and perioperative point-of-care ultrasound (POCUS). In addition to his extensive professional commitments, Dr. Mir Ghassemi is an avid instructor of POCUS workshops, sharing his insights and expertise with the broader medical community. With a distinguished career spanning multiple prestigious institutions, Dr. Mir Ghassemi has made significant contributions to both clinical practice and medical education. As a dedicated anesthesiologist at the Ottawa Hospital, Dr. Mir Ghassemi brings experience and expertise to his role. He is also an Assistant Professor within the University of Ottawa's esteemed Department of Anesthesiology and Pain Medicine.
