Biography

Dr. Barbara Farrell B.Sc.Phm., Pharm.D., ACPR, FCSHP is a Senior Scientist with the Bruyère Research Institute, Associate Professor, Department of Family Medicine, University of Ottawa Department and Adjunct Assistant Professor, School of Pharmacy, University of Waterloo. She practices clinically in the Bruyère Geriatric Day Hospital. Dr. Farrell is the Founder of, and Senior Advisor to the internationally renowned Deprescribing Guidelines Research Team. Her research includes developing, implementing and evaluating use of deprescribing guidelines, using community engagement and education to support health care providers and members of the public in deprescribing decision making and studying the development and management of prescribing cascades. Her research and related knowledge mobilization tools are featured on https://deprescribing.org/ . Dr. Farrell's research has involved patients and healthcare providers at Bruyère Continuing Care as well as in primary and long-term care environments.
