Biography
Dr. Vassiliou earned her medical degree in 1987 from McGill University, Montreal and completed post-graduate studies in Internal Medicine at Queen’s University and Obstetrics and Gynecology at McMaster University and the University of Ottawa. After completing her residency she pursued interests in the then emerging field of minimally invasive surgery and trained with leaders in that field such as Drs. George Vilos, C.Y. Liu and James Daniels. Dr. Vassiliou has been on staff at the Ottawa Hospital since 1993 and has maintained a very busy clinical practice since then. As an Assistant Professor she is involved with teaching of medical students and residents both at her private office and the Ottawa Hospital.
One of Dr. Vassiliou's interests is in the role and analysis of fetal heart rate in labour which she teaches to the residents through case studies and review of the medical literature.
