Biography
Douglas Green completed his MD at the University of Ottawa in 1990. This was followed by further training in internal medicine and psychiatry. He completed his specialization in psychiatry in 1995 followed by an additional year of subspecialization in consultation-liaison psychiatry. He has worked in the areas of consultation-liaison psychiatry and outpatient psychiatry, and for over ten years he has worked in the area of collaborative mental health care. This is an area which focuses on the provision of psychiatric treatment and training in the primary care setting. He has an interest in somatization as well as in the treatment of anxiety and depression in primary care. A recent focus has been on the creation of the Ottawa Depression Algorithm and the Ottawa Anxiety Algorithm, tools to assist with the treatment of depression and anxiety in the primary care setting. As an Assistant Professor in the Department of Psychiatry at the University of Ottawa, he is also actively involved in teaching medical students and residents as well as family physicians and has received a number of teaching awards.
