Biography
Dr. John Lamensa completed his Master of Science degree in Clinical Biochemistry at the Sick Kid’s Research Institute in Toronto and followed with his Doctor of Medicine at the University of Toronto in 1996. He undertook residency training in Obstetrics and Gynecology at Queen’s University and became a Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada in 2001. He holds an academic appointment as Assistant Professor at the University of Ottawa and is Attending Staff at the Ottawa Hospital, in the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology and Newborn Care, where he has been on staff since 2002.
His scope of practice includes comprehensive care in Obstetrics, Gynecology and Gynecological Surgery including minimally invasive laparoscopic and hysteroscopic surgeries and colposcopy. His colposcopy practice is based at the Dysplasia Clinic at the Queensway Carleton Hospital.
His academic focus is on education and teaching at the undergraduate and postgraduate level. He sees patients in the office at Harmony Medical Centre and performs deliveries and gynecologic surgeries at the Civic campus of the Ottawa hospital.
