Biography
Dr. José Aquino holds an academic appointment with the Faculty of Medicine as assistant professor within the Department of Radiology and has been an active radiologist at The Ottawa Hospital (TOH) in the Department of Medical Imaging since 1995. He has previously served as Section Head, Vascular/Interventional in the Department of Medical Imaging and Director of Medical Imaging Fellowship Programs at the Faculty.
Dr. Aquino is a strong advocate for medical education through his work with the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons in the Diagnostic Radiology examination process. His experience includes serving a five-year term as an executive member of the Diagnostic Radiology Examination Board and has over ten years of experience as an examiner for the oral component of the examination process. He has held the position of regional representative on the Specialty Committee for Diagnostic Radiology since 2010, and, as of July 2014, is the Chair of the Specialty Committee for Diagnostic Radiology.
A medical graduate from Dalhousie University, Dr. Aquino completed his residency training at uOttawa in 1992, a rotating internship at TOH at the General campus and a fellowship in Angiography/Interventional Radiology at the Civic campus in 1993.
