Biography
Dr. Kay-Anne Haykal is an Associate Professor in the Department of Family Medicine and Assistant Dean of Student Affairs at the Faculty of Medicine. She completed her Doctor of Optometry degree at the Université de Montréal in 2002 and her Doctor of Medicine degree in 2006 at the University of Ottawa. She practices as a Family Physician with the Montfort Academic Family Health Team, the dedicated teaching site for all francophone learners and the supervising unit for Family Medicine residents, and as a hospitalist at the Hôpital Montfort. Dr. Haykal completed a Master of Business Administration (MBA) in 2024 at the Australian Institute of Business.
Dr. Haykal’s national impact in teaching and education, as well as academic leadership, is championed by research and dissemination in the disciplines of wellness, resilience, and financial programs. She is an active member of the Canadian Student Affairs Committee at the national level. She has a comprehensive mandate as a leader, an innovator of student affairs curriculum and an advocate for students. The broad scope of her office addresses the full breadth of student affairs including personal wellness, financial planning, career advising, mentorship, coaching, and accommodations.
Dr. Haykal’s dedication to empowering patients and the community through her volunteer work is evident in health promotion and education of the public through workshops and dissemination to the Arabic community.
