Biography
Dr. Maddie Venables is the Academic Research Advisor for the research arm of the Department of Family Medicine at the University of Ottawa. She holds a PhD in Biology and a MHA from the University of Ottawa. She is devoted to improving the health and well-being of individuals, families, and communities. She is doing this through her role in research and education in primary care settings by engaging learners, physicians, and patients in educational and scholarly activities to enhance learning and health outcomes. She is keenly aware of the important interplay between health and education and is working closely with health leaders and Indigenous community members to dismantle anti-Indigenous racism in healthcare systems. Dr. Venables also works to support research development by supporting faculty and residents with their research and scholarly work in the Department of Family Medicine.
