Biography
Research interests
- Preclinical to clinical (i.e. “bench-to-bedside”) translation (I co-lead the Blueprint Translational Research Group at the Ottawa Hospital Research Institute). We are actively funded by Canadian Institutes of Health Research (CIHR), New Frontiers in Research Fund (NFRF), the Canadian Stem Cell Network, and other national sources.
- Cell therapy for perioperative medicine and critical illness
- My group integrates patient partners throughout our research (i.e. “patient engagement”)
- We are studying and implementing methods to reduce bias and improve rigour in bench/preclinical research
- We are currently conducting Canada’s first multilaboratory studies
- Meta-research (e.g. preclinical and clinical systematic reviews)
- I am also a member of the Centre for Journalology and have a special interest in Predatory Journals
I supervise graduate students in the Cellular and Molecular Medicine Program as well as the School of Epidemiology and Public Health (SEPH). Prospective graduate students, post-doctoral fellows, residents, medical students, and undergraduate students with an interest in the above topics are encouraged to contact me through email ([email protected]).
