Biography

Dr. Martin is the Director of Epidemiology, Health Research and Quality Improvement in the Health Services Sector of Correctional Service of Canada and an Adjunct Professor in the School of Epidemiology and Public Health at the University of Ottawa and the Department of Psychology and Carleton University. Dr. Martin received his PhD in Epidemiology and Public Health from the University of Ottawa in 2017, an MA in Psychology from Carleton University in 2011, and his BA in Criminology and Criminal Justice from Carleton University in 2007. He has worked with the Correctional Service of Canada since 2005.

Dr. Martin’s areas of expertise and research interests include: (a) screening for mental illness; (b) trajectories of mental illness and self-harm behaviours; (c) risk and protective factors for mental health and behavioural outcomes; (d) treatment of mental illness and self-harm behaviours; (e) system integration across jurisdictions and ministries responsible for providing health and social services.
