Biography

Swapnil Hiremath, MD, MPH,FASN is a Staff Nephrologist at the Ottawa Hospital, a Professor in the Faculty of Medicine at the University of Ottawa, and also an Associate Scientist in the Clinical Epidemiology Programme at the Ottawa Hospital Research Institute.

His medical education has been at the University of Mumbai and at the University of Ottawa. He has a Masters in Public Health from the Harvard School of Public Health and certification from the American Heart Association as a Specialist in Clinical Hypertension.

His primary research interest is in using systematic reviews, meta-analyses and decision-analytic modeling to improve care for patients with hypertension, chronic kidney disease, hemodialysis and patients with acute kidney injury. He has grant funding from CIHR, PSI, TOHAMO, and other agencies, in the field of contrast AKI and difficult to control hypertension. He has authored more than 100 papers, details available at this link.
