Biography
Dr. Tamer Elfazari is an Assistant Professor and Clinician Educator in the department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at the University of Ottawa. He joined the department in September 2020. He came with a unique and diverse training background and experience. He completed his residency at the University of Ottawa. He pursued a Fellowship in Minimally Invasive Gynecologic Surgery at University of Auvergne, Clermont Ferrand in France. He also pursued a Diploma in Advanced Gynecological Ultrasound. As a leader and health advocate, Dr. Elfazari has helped disseminate gynecologic surgical and educational principles nationally and internationally.
He has a clinical focus on tertiary level surgical gynecology including expertise in the treatment of uterine fibroids, pelvic masses, pelvic prolapse, endometriosis and advanced hysteroscopic procedures. His research interests include surgical education, curriculum development and evaluation, outcomes of surgical procedures and patient safety.
Patient care philosophy
Dr. Elfazari believes that treating every patient the way he would want his own family member to be treated is a key to optimal patient’s care.
Academic interests
Dr. Elfazari is passionate about medical and surgical education. His experience and leadership in education, and clinical expertise in obstetrics and gynecology can be used to contribute to a growing area of literature in a meaningful way.
