Biography
Dr. Spettigue is an Associate Professor in the Department of Psychiatry who specializes in the assessment and treatment of children and adolescents with severe eating disorders. She served as the Psychiatric Director of the Eating Disorder Program at CHEO from 2000-2013, and is currently the Division Chief for hospital-based psychiatry at CHEO. In addition to her clinical work, she has done extensive research into the epidemiology, risk factors and treatment of pediatric eating disorders, and has received over 2 million dollars in research funding. In 2009 she received the CHEO Research Institute’s Award of Excellence for Research in Psychiatry, in 2015 she received the Excellence in Education Award from the Canadian Academy of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry, and in 2019 she received the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada Prix D’Excellence Regional Specialist of the Year Award. Dr. Spettigue has trained and served as a consultant to other teams across Canada, and has advocated for resources for eating disorders at a national level. She has published numerous research papers and has co-authored five book chapters on eating disorders. She has also lectured and taught extensively on the treatment of pediatric eating disorders, at provincial, national and international conferences.
