Biography
Yannick D. Benoit is a Principal Investigator and Assistant Professor in the Department of Cellular and Molecular Medicine and a cross-appointed Professor at the School of Pharmaceutical Sciences of the University of Ottawa. He received his Ph.D. in 2010 from the Université de Sherbrooke, where he studied human intestinal mucosa and epigenetic regulation of intestinal progenitor cells.
From 2010 to 2017, Dr. Benoit completed two postdoctoral fellowships, at the Weill Cornell Medical College (New York) and at McMaster University Stem Cell and Cancer Research Institute. Dr. Benoit joined uOttawa in 2017 to work on discovering and developing new therapeutic avenues to eliminate human cancer stem cells.
Dr. Benoit and his team are working closely with The Ottawa Hospital, the Center for Innovative Cancer Research, and the uOttawa Drug Discovery Initiatives to develop novel, highly translational anticancer agents targeting the epigenetic signature of human colorectal cancer stem cells.
The quality of Dr. Benoit’s work has been recognized through numerous prizes and awards, a solid publication track record in high-impact scientific journals, and continued success at research funding competitions.
