2023 External Award Recipients
The Faculty of Medicine is well represented in awards programs and at the University, local, national and international levels. Here we list some of our faculty members who have received such honours.
Dr. Mamta Gautam
Dr. Mamta Gautam is the first awardee of the Association of Faculties of Medicine of Canada’s Wellness Award, a new national honour that recognizes an individual in Canada who has shown dedication to the promotion and advancement of the wellness of physicians, medical students, and others. Dr. Michelle Chiu
Dr. Michelle Chiu was awarded the 2023 Canadian Anesthesiologists' Society Clinical Teacher Award, given in recognition of excellence in the teaching of clinical anesthesia. Read more about her award on the Canadian Anesthesiologists’ Society website.
Dr. Yannick Audet-Delage
Dr. Yannick Audet-Delage has received a prestigious Next Generation of Scientists Award from the Cancer Research Society.
Dr. Sibel Aydin
Dr. Sibel Aydin, professor in the Department of Medicine, is the 2023 Honorary Member of the University of Ottawa Alumni Association. The award celebrates a person who is not a graduate of the University, but whose actions and dedication have affected the uOttawa experience including outstanding personal service, commitment and contributions, past or present, to the University. Dr. Krystal Kehoe MacLeod
Dr. Krystal Kehoe MacLeod, from the Department of Family Medicine, has been awarded with the 2023 Emerging Community-Based Researcher Award along with a Postdoctoral Fellowship from the Canadian Institutes of Health Research.
Dr. Michelle Anawati
Dr. Michelle Anawati is the 2023 recipient of the College of Family Physicians of Canada Fellowship.
Dr. Danielle Brown-Shreves
Dr. Danielle Brown-Shreves has received the Ontario College of Family Physicians’ (OCFP) Regional Family Physician of the Year Award for Region 3 – East, and is also the Ontario recipient of the College of Family Physicians of Canada’s (CFPC) Reg L. Perkin Family Physician of the Year Award.
Dr. Michael Quon
Dr. Michael Quon has received the prestigious 2023 Royal College Award for Early Career Leadership in recognition of his outstanding leadership, initiative, service and/or innovation in the Health Policy/Health Systems category, one of three key areas of the Royal College mandate. Dr. Laurie McLean, Dr. Asif Doja and Dr. Amel Arnaout
The 2023 Canadian Association of Medical Education Merit and Rising Star recipients have been announced, with Dr. Laurie McLean, Dr. Asif Doja and Dr. Amel Arnaout winning the Local CAME Merit Awards, while Dr. Eusang Ahn and Dr. Pierre-Marc Dion were honoured with the Local CAME Rising Star Award of Excellence.
