Dr. Andrew Hall, an emergency medicine specialist, was honoured with the 2024 Professional Association of Residents of Ontario’s Excellence in Clinical Teaching Award.
Dr. Mireille Khacho
Dr. Mireille Khacho has received the Early Career Biomedical Researcher of the Year award from the Neuromuscular Disease Network for Canada (NMD4C). The Network notes that Dr. Khacho has established herself as an emerging international leader in neuromuscular research while holding a Tier 2 Canada Research Chair in Mitochondrial Dynamics and Regenerative Medicine.

Dr. Kwadwo Kyeremantenghas been awarded the Minister of Colleges and Universities Award of Excellence in the Equality of Opportunity category for advocating for health equity, inclusion, and diversity. The award highlights his achievements in promoting equal opportunities, particularly for Black students, which were highlighted in this story.

Dr. Melanie Bechard, assistant professor in the Department of Pediatrics and pediatric emergency physician at CHEO, was recognized for exceptional leadership and advocacy with a Canadian Pediatric Society (CPS) Early Career Paediatrician Award.

Dr. Pradeep Merchant, assistant professor in the Department of Pediatrics, was invested as a member of the Order of Canada for his enduring contributions to the country, including fundraising for societal upliftment, scholarships, business development and cultural exchanges.

Dr. Kerri-Anne Mullen
Dr. Kerri-Anne Mullen is a winner of this year’s Knowledge Mobilization Award for her work shedding light on cardiovascular disease in women. The award from the University of Ottawa Office of the Vice-President, Research and Innovation recognizes researchers who undertake knowledge mobilization activities that have far-reaching impact.
Dr. Lynn Ashdown
The Canadian Medical Association (CMA) has recognized Dr. Lynn Ashdown with the 2024 Dr. Ashok Muzumdar Memorial Award for Physicians with Disabilities, granted to a CMA member with a disability, whether physical, cognitive or psychological, who demonstrates resilience and leadership in one of several facets of disabilities outlined by the CMA. Dr. Ashdown was in the second year of her family medicine residency at uOttawa when she was seriously injured. Most recently, she co-chaired the Patient Partnership Working Group for the Faculty's undergraduate medical education curriculum renewal project, where she also teaches the disability curriculum.
Dr. Geneviève Moineau
The Canadian Medical Association (CMA) has recognized Dr. Geneviève Moineau, professor in the Department of Pediatrics, with the 2024 Dr. Léo-Paul Landry Medal of Service, awarded to a CMA member who has made exceptional contributions to the advancement of health care in Canada.
Dr. Peter Liu
Dr. Peter Liu has received a 2024 Canadian Chinese Legends Award from the Chinese Canadian Legends Association (CCLA), recognizing the transformation of challenges into achievements for Canada.
Dr. Peter Liu has also received the 2024 Heart Failure Society of America Pioneer Award, given to an innovator and pioneer in field of heart failure.
Dr. Isabelle Desjardins
Dr. Isabelle Desjardins, assistant dean of student evaluation and curriculum implementation for UGME, was honoured with the 2024 Dr. Louis Levasseur Award for Distinguished Service from the Medical Council of Canada (MCC), recognizing an individual whose collaboration has contributed in an extraordinary manner to the vision and mission of the MCC.
Dr. Bryan Garber
Dr. Bryan Garber, adjunct professor with the School of Epidemiology and Public Health, received the Meritorious Service Medal from the Governor General of Canada in recognition of his work on mild traumatic brain injury in a military operational setting.
Dr. Timothy Wood
Dr. Timothy Wood, director of student assessment and faculty evaluation (SAFE), was honoured with the 2024 Dr. Maureen Topps Award for Outstanding Achievement in the Assessment of Clinical Competence from the Medical Council of Canada (MCC), recognizing an individual or group who has demonstrated sustained excellence in Canadian healthcare or healthcare research.

Dr. Emilio I. Alarcón has been named as a member of the Royal Society of Canada's College of New Scholars, Artists and Scientists. Those appointed to become new members of the RSC College represent the emerging generation of Canadian intellectual leadership.
Dr. John Bell
Dr. John Bell has earned the Canadian Cancer Society’s Lifetime Contribution Prize. The award is given to an “esteemed investigator” who has enhanced the country’s cancer research landscape through their vision and leadership.
Dr. Doug Coyle
Dr. Doug Coyle has received the Dr. Jill M. Sanders Award for Excellence in Health Technology Assessment from Canada’s Drug Agency. This competitive award recognizes outstanding career achievement.
Dr. Rebecca Auer
Dr. Rebecca Auer, full professor in the Department of Surgery and CEO and Scientific Director of the Ottawa Hospital Research Institute (OHRI), has been recognized as one of “Canada’s Most Powerful Women: Top 100 Award Winner” by the Women's Executive Network (WXN). The group cites her work as a global leader in perioperative cancer immunotherapies.

Dr. Sydney Morin, assistant clinical professor at the School of Pharmaceutical Sciences, has been selected as the 2024 recipient of the New Hospital Pharmacy Practitioner Award from the Canadian Society of Hospital Pharmacists Ontario Branch.
