At the end of the program, you will have acquired the knowledge and skills to offer low risk obstetrical care. Graduates will:
- Be more comfortable providing all aspects of routine office-based antenatal care;
- Be able to counsel patients regarding prenatal genetic screening and arrange such tests;
- Have gained experience in the management of labour and delivery; induction and augmentation techniques, second stage management, tests of fetal wellbeing (scalp pH), indications for cesarean section and operative vaginal delivery;
- Have gained experience with operative vaginal delivery, especially vacuum assisted delivery and knowledge of forceps delivery (not performance of); and,
- Have gained more experience with repair of 1st and 2nd degree obstetrical lacerations, manual removal of the placenta, and perhaps management of shoulder dystocia.
