The Graduate Diploma in Health Education provides an opportunity to acquire expertise in health education and is intended to:
  • Deepen your knowledge and strengthen your leadership in health education
  • Improve your teaching and evaluation methods in the classroom or clinical setting
  • Develop your expertise in health education research
  • Develop your expertise in program design and evaluation in the field of health education

Please note that graduate programs in health education in French are different from the education programs in health professions education offered by the Faculty of Education in English. The programs in French are offered through a partnership between the Faculty of Education and the Faculty of Medicine at the University of Ottawa.

Admission requirements

To be eligible for admission, candidates must:

  • Hold a bachelor's degree in science, health sciences or a related field, or an undergraduate doctorate in medicine or pharmacy

or

  • Have relevant work experience
  • Have an overall average of at least 70% (B) calculated according to Graduate Studies guidelines
  • Understand and be fluent in the language of instruction, which is French

Language requirements

  • If your first language is neither English nor French, you may have to provide the results of a certified language test such as the TOEFL or IELTS as proof of your ability in your program’s language of instruction.

Note: Upon completion of the Graduate Diploma, qualified students meeting admission requirements could apply to one of the related master's programs (Master of Education, Health Education concentration; Master of Arts in Education Health Education concentration), and, upon admission, complete the requirements for those programs with credits granted for relevant courses already completed in the Diploma. Remaining credits would be assessed individually according to the student's chosen master's program.
