The International and Global Health Office (IGHO) works with departments across the uOttawa Faculty of Medicine (FoM) to deliver International Opportunities for our learners, faculty members and academic visitors from around the world.

The IGHO offers various international elective opportunities through partnerships with educational and medical institutions worldwide to our learners and faculty. These opportunities include clinical and global health group electives, observerships, residency placements, summer institutes, and research and training opportunities. International Elective Opportunities within Established Faculty Partnerships

As a learner at the uOttawa Faculty of Medicine, there are many exciting opportunities for you to gain international and global health experience, locally and abroad. The IGHO encourages learners to explore the opportunities offered here in Ottawa, such as our Concentration in Global Health and Social Accountability, as well as learning and volunteer experiences through the Office of Social Accountability.

Find Your Own International Elective Placement

UGME and PGME learners can find their own international elective placement that aligns with their interests and career goals. These electives must adhere to the Faculty of Medicine's ethical standards and be situated in safe areas. The IGHO will evaluate your selection and reserves the right to deny the elective for security and ethical considerations. When finding your own international elective placement, we encourage you to follow the steps outlined below.
