Biography
Michelle Emard joined the Faculty of Medicine as Chief Operating Officer (COO) in 2019 with more than 20 years in senior management under her belt. Having started out as a Training Manager in the federal government’s inquiries centre, she originally embarked on a career in operations management in the telecommunications and technology sector, holding director and VP-level positions at Dell, Sutherland Global Services, Convergys and Taima Corporation.
In 2009, Ms. Emard pivoted into the health care sector as a Director for the Canadian Medical Protective Association, which provides physicians with liability protection and legal and risk management advice related to their clinical practice. Five years later, she took on the role of COO for the Canadian Nurses Protective Society which offers similar services to registered nurses and nurse practitioners.
Ms. Emard has had a long-standing commitment to volunteer work providing leadership training, coaching and mentoring to youth and the local business community. Her expertise in managing teams and leading large-scale operations makes her a sought-after speaker on customer service excellence, leadership, coaching and employee engagement. Ms. Emard holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Law from Carleton University.
