After much awaited anticipation, the uOttawa is pleased to announce the arrival of the Sony SH800 cell sorter. The purchase of this was made possible through the support of CFI grant lead by Dr. Maxime Rousseaux. The SH800 is equipped with 4 lasers (405 nm, 488 nm, 561 nm, 640 nm) with 6 discrete fluorescence detectors. This instrument is capable of 2-way sorting, but truly excels at single-cell sorting into 96 or 384 well plates. One notable feature of the SH800 is its ease of use, which allows for trained core facility users to do their own cell sorting. However, we can still do fee-for-service if you want us to. The choice is now up to you.
We hope that this new sorter will foster new assays and applications that will enrich the on-going research initiatives at the Faculty of Medicine!
