Dr. Bernard Jasmin, Dean of the Faculty of Medicine, as well as Drs. Daniel Figeys and Christine Landry, officially inaugurated the pharmacy program in the presence of numerous key dignitaries and partners from the pharmaceutical community.
After more than five years and unsuccessful attempts in the past, the traditional cutting of the red ribbon marks the realization of this innovative project at the leading edge of practices in education and focused on the development of the specific and transversal skills required for practice. Let’s remember that the primary objective is to train tomorrow’s bilingual pharmacists to serve our Francophone patients in minority settings. At this historic moment for the University of Ottawa, Mr. Jacques Frémont, President and Vice-Chancellor, delivered a poignant speech by video:
“This first ever undergraduate Doctor of Pharmacy program in French outside Quebec is therefore perfectly aligned with one of our key objectives: to train a new generation of bilingual science and health professionals to serve patients and enrich our Francophone communities across the country.”
