From the water to the classroom, Toshka Besharah forges her path with determination. This Canadian paddler, a rising star in sprint kayaking and semi-finalist at the Paris 2024 Olympic Games, combines her passion for high-level sport with her medical ambitions at the Faculty of Medicine.

Toshka Besharah, a student in Translational and Molecular Medicine at uOttawa's Faculty of Medicine, epitomizes the balance between academic and athletic excellence. The Ottawa-born Canadian paddler has proven herself on the international canoe scene, culminating in her participation in the Paris 2024 Olympic Games.

At only 21 years old, Toshka already has a dazzling track record: double junior world bronze medallist, senior worlds bronze medalist at her first SR world championships, and a member of the Olympic Women’s K4 in Paris 2024.

Aspiring to work in the medical field, Toshka pursued her studies at the Faculty of Medicine alongside her career as a top-level sportswoman.

Toshka's story is that of a determined young woman, brilliantly combining her academic and sporting ambitions.
