For the first time in three years, friends and family gathered in person last month to celebrate a milestone—the graduation of their loved ones from the Faculty of Medicine.
On Friday, June 10, the Faculty of Medicine’s 2020, 2021 and 2022 cohorts took to the stage at the Shaw Centre to receive their diplomas in a joint ceremony for the MD, MD/PhD, Translational and Molecular Medicine (TMM) and Graduate Studies programs.
Dr. Vera Etches, medical officer of health for Ottawa Public Health and adjunct professor at the Faculty, was awarded an honorary doctorate for her role in promoting population health, guiding communities in navigating the COVID-19 pandemic, and her commitment to addressing inequities in health status.
A professional portrait service allowed new alumni to commemorate the important milestone, and professional photographers captured graduates backstage and with their family and friends before and after the ceremony.
The Faculty of Medicine’s Convocation was part of a multi-day celebration awarding diplomas to graduates across all Faculties at the University of Ottawa. All ceremonies were live streamed for family and friends who were unable to attend in person, and each ceremony is available on the University of Ottawa YouTube channel.
Congratulations to all of our graduates!
