Doors Open Ottawa 2018 another great success

Faculty of Medicine
Hundreds of community members attended this event, which wouldn't have been possible without the help of more than 50 Faculty of Medicine volunteers.

The Faculty of Medicine extends a huge thank you to everyone who helped make this year’s Doors Open Ottawa a success.

This year, the Faculty offered two tours to the public. One tour allowed visitors to explore labs belonging to the University of Ottawa Brain and Mind Research Institute (uOBMRI), and on the second tour, guests discovered the Centre for Infection, Immunity and Inflammation (CI3) labs. In total, more than 320 community members visited the Faculty on Sunday, June 3.

In addition to lab tours, visitors were also treated to Let’s Talk Science activities for children, 3D printer demonstrations, and a chance to speak with students about what it’s like being in med school.

Doors Open Ottawa provides the Faculty with an opportunity to showcase the great work happening within its walls and labs, and it would not have been possible without the dedication of the event’s planning committee, and the more than 50 volunteers who offered their time and enthusiasm on the day of the event.

This is the second year the Faculty has participated in this Ottawa-wide event, which provides access to buildings the public wouldn’t otherwise have a chance to see. The Faculty was one of more than 140 buildings that opened its doors during this year’s event.
