Dr. Ronald Labonté, Professor in the School of Epidemiology, Public Health and Preventive Medicine at the Faculty of Medicine, has been elected as an Honorary Fellow of the United Kingdom’s Faculty of Public Health (FPH).
The FPH is the standard-setting body for specialists in public health in the UK. The Honorary Fellow is the most prestigious accolade from the FPH. It is awarded to individuals who have rendered exceptional service to the fields of science, literature or practice of public health.
In addition to his appointment at the Faculty of Medicine, University of Ottawa, Dr. Labonté is a Principal Scientist with the University’s Institute of Population Health. He is a Canada Research Chair in Globalization and Health Equity, with current research interests in ethics, human rights and global health development, global migration of health workers, revitalization of comprehensive primary health care, global health diplomacy and globalization and the health of Canadians.
