Each year, the University of Ottawa first year medical students put on a performance highlighting the unique talents of the class. This year is no different. Complete with singing, dancing, acting, rapping, and so much more – this show will be sure to impress!
This year’s performance transports the audience to a world where super heroes exist – as doctors! You will be introduced to a new class of medical students and be able to watch them manoeuvre the trials and tribulations that accompany #MedLife as they seek to discover their powers. All the while, evil villains attempt to destroy uOttawa’s Faculty of Medicine. Will the first years discover their powers in time to help defeat the villains? And what will they do when faced with an unexpected announcement?
While we certainly hope that our audience enjoys this thrilling tale of good versus evil, MedShow is more than just a show. It is an opportunity for medical students to explore their creative side while making new friends and potentially trying out theatre for the first time.
“MedShow lets me blend to major parts of my life - science and theatre,” says Courtney, director and actor in the show. “I get to celebrate my profession and share my passion with my peers. It’s a really special thing.”
For Jean, producer and also an actor in the show, it’s about teamwork and camaraderie within her cohort, and the idea of everyone working toward a greater good.
“I love that MedShow brings the whole class together. From the cast to chorus to production team, it's great that we are creating something for the purpose of fundraising for charity.”
This year’s MedShow is proud to support the Pancreatic Cancer Canada Foundation (PCCF) as our class charity. PCCF is focused on fighting pancreatic cancer through raising funds for research, awareness, education and advocacy. PCCF’s goals are to improve overall patient survival rates and create a brighter future for those affected by pancreatic cancer. All proceeds from this year’s production will be donated to PCCF.
