Everyone is welcome to the 10th annual Postdoctoral Research Day on Thursday, March 22 to meet some of the brilliant minds behind the research at the Faculty of Medicine.
Titled “Driving Scientific Discovery in the Canadian Landscape,” the event will showcase the high-quality research carried out at the Faculty of Medicine and exhibit the works of postdoctoral fellows from across all uOttawa Faculties.
The day is hosted by the uOttawa Faculty of Medicine Postdoctoral Association in collaboration with the Faculty of Medicine. Activities include oral and poster presentations by learners and researchers, for which prizes will be awarded.
This year’s special, 10th anniversary edition features three former FoM postdocs returning to share their stories and expertise. In a series of workshops from 1:00-2:30, Dr. Lee-Hwa Tai (University of Sherbrooke), Dr. Mireille Khacho (uOttawa) and Dr. Jim Uniacke (University of Guelph) will share useful insights including that of paper- and grant-writing.
Let yourself be captivated by science as you meet the Faculty’s researchers over light refreshments in the Atrium during the poster session from 2:30 to 3:30. Come, meet, ask questions – find out what it’s like to be a researcher in a world-famous institution like uOttawa.
The special year also means a high-calibre keynote speaker. Round out the day with a presentation by our very own Mona Nemer, now Chief Science Advisor of Canada, current Faculty of Medicine professor, and former VP Research at uOttawa. Dr. Nemer’s 3:30 presentation, titled “From gene discovery to science policy,” will be followed by a reception and awards at 4:30.
