The Institut du Savoir Montfort (ISM), the Montfort Foundation and the University of Ottawa’s Department of Family Medicine (DFM) have partnered to create a new Family Medicine Research Chair — the first of its kind in French, in Ontario.
The goal is both simple and ambitious: improve primary health care for all Canadians while focusing on minority Francophone communities.
"This new chair will be another incentive to attract researchers, fellows, postdoctoral fellows and highly skilled graduate students to Ottawa," said Dr. Denis Prud'homme, Associate Vice-President of Research, Acting Chief Executive Officer and ISM’s Scientific Director.
Funding for the new Family Medicine Research Chair amounts to $2 million over 10 years: $1 million from the ISM and the Montfort Foundation ($500,000 each), and $1 million from the DFM.
All partners involved will soon start reviewing the numerous submissions received from candidates, before selecting a Chairholder.
