Congratulations to all of our members on their recent success in the NSERC Discovery Grants competition!

Congratulations to researchers from the Faculty of Medicine and affiliated research institutes on their recent success in the Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council (NSERC) Discovery Grants Competition!

NSERC funded 6 grants, for a total of $1,187,500:

  • Michele Ardolino (Department of Biochemistry, Microbiology and Immunology/ Ottawa Hospital Research Institute):The immune system beyond protection: role of innate lymphoid cells in the regulation of the estrous cycle
  • Dylan Burger (Department of Cellular and Molecular Medicine/ Ottawa Hospital Research Institute): Extracellular vesicles in cellular aging
  • Kyle Cowan (Department of Surgery/ Children’s Hospital of Eastern Ontario Research Institute): Pannexin Interactome: from Discovery to Functional Screening
  • Michael Downey (Department of Cellular and Molecular Medicine): Molecular control of non-histone protein acetylation in budding yeast
  • Morgan Fullerton (Department of Biochemistry, Microbiology and Immunology): Mitochondrial choline metabolism in innate immunity
  • Douglas Gray (Department of Biochemistry, Microbiology and Immunology/Ottawa Hospital Research Institute): Evolutionary and functional relationships between Lgr proteins and ubiquitin-specific proteases
