This year’s virtual Faculty of Medicine Awards in Education recognized the outstanding academic achievements of 117 of the Faculty’s learners and teachers in 2021.
The online event on December 2 honoured students and faculty members from basic science undergraduate studies (Translational and Molecular Medicine), postdoctoral studies, graduate studies, postgraduate medical education and undergraduate medical education.
Elder Claudette Commanda, an Algonquin Anishinabe from Kitigan Zibi Anishinabeg First Nation, delivered the opening and closing prayers for the ceremony.
Dean Bernard Jasmin thanked and congratulated the laureates for their work and commitment that is making an impact locally and globally in areas of public health, clinical care and medical research.
“This year has been one about change and optimism as we modify the way we teach, learn and work in new and creative ways.,” Dr. Jasmin said.
“While it has been a challenging experience in the face of an ongoing pandemic, we are more committed than ever to teaching, research and innovation,” he said, going on to highlight several initiatives exemplifying the Faculty’s excellence in these areas.
