For the second year in a row, the Department of Biochemistry, Microbiology and Immunology (BMI) at the Faculty of Medicine held a video production contest—all in the name of science.

For the second year in a row, the Department of Biochemistry, Microbiology and Immunology (BMI) at the Faculty of Medicine held a video production contest—all in the name of science.

The “Showcase Your Science” contest called for BMI students to get creative with a camera, share their passion for science through video storytelling, and learn new ways to communicate their research to the general public.

Students had no trouble rising to the occasion and submitted videos about the work they do in their labs—from HIV and cancer research to the important properties of yeast and proteomics.

This year’s prizes are $200 for first place, $150 for second place, $100 for third place and $50 for fourth place. The winners will be chosen by vote from a group of local elementary students and announced in the fall.

A huge thank you to all the students and researchers who participated in this contest. We are looking forward to more fantastic creations next year!
