A magic show, a holiday-themed photo booth, and a slew of awards created a festive atmosphere at the Staff Appreciation Luncheon December 13.

On Friday, December 13th, Faculty of Medicine support staff gathered for a joyous holiday celebration at the St. Elias Banquet Centre, featuring a mouth-watering buffet and magician Alex Boyer’s impressive feats. View the photo album on flickr.

A hallmark of this annual luncheon is the recognition of staff who have celebrated 5, 10, 15, 20, 25, 30, and sometimes even 35 years of service. This year, the Faculty also honoured the winners of the inaugural Faculty of Medicine Staff Awards.

Please join us in congratulating the following staff members!

The Faculty of Medicine Staff Service Excellence Awards – Individual and Team

This award is presented to staff members who give expression to the University’s vision of service excellence and stand out for the exceptional quality of the service they provide.

Individual award winners:

Danielle Caron – Officer, Faculty Payroll Services and HR Systems

Over the last year, Danielle has taken on extra responsibilities for a prolonged period of time to fill pressing needs in her office. Highly organized and dependable, with a warm and patient demeanour, she is always keen to learn new skills and looks for ways to bring positive changes to her team.

Lynn Prud’homme – Fellowships and Visa Programs Coordinator, Postgraduate Medical Education

Lynn works diligently to ensure that all foreign trainees arrive with their requirements in place and ready to start – something for which countless trainees have expressed gratitude! The conscientious, professional and polite service she provides helps create excellent relationships and build trust between the trainee, their sponsor and the Faculty of Medicine. With her vast experience and deep knowledge, Lynn is a resource among her Ontario peers for answers to complex cases.

Team award winners:

Francophone Affairs – Virginie Albert, Ali Alaoui Benhachem, Wassim Boudjatat, Isabelle Briand-Turpin, Geneviève Côté, Luc Diarra, Dr. Salomon Fotsing, Daniel Hubert, Zaki Khouani, Martine Trudeau

Francophonie keeps improving at the Faculty of Medicine and we owe this to the small but hard-working Francophone Affairs team who works tirelessly toward a common goal. The team delivers a wide variety of services and activities for the benefit of students, teachers and researchers at Roger Guindon Hall and its affiliated institutions.

Research and Innovation – Julie Carrière, Charlene Clow, Gillian Lord, Dr. Charis Putinski, Mélanie Rioux

Beginning in 2009 with little to no established processes, staff, or historical resources in place, the FoM Research and Innovation Team has become highly professional, dynamic, dedicated, and accomplished. The team members demonstrate tireless effort, commitment to service excellence, and outstanding support for their Faculty, affiliated institutes and for the University.

This award is presented to a staff member or team to recognize their effort in exploring an innovative idea or approach with the goal of improving efficiencies, reducing cost or improving service.
