On Thursday, June 8, colleagues from past and present gathered at the Ottawa Hunt and Golf Club to celebrate 11 years of service and leadership by Dr. Jacques Bradwejn. He will be leaving his post as Dean of the Faculty of Medicine this summer.

University of Ottawa leadership members, affiliate hospitals, research institutes, support staff and faculty members were all in attendance to enjoy a reception-style evening filled with over a decade’s worth of memories.

A number of speeches and toasts reflected on Dr. Bradwejn’s many accomplishments over the years; including the creation of the first Sino-Canadian medical school in China in partnership with Shanghai Jiao Tong University School of Medicine.

Throughout the evening, guests heard from Dr. Melissa Forgie, Vice-Dean of Undergraduate Medical Education; Dr. Michel Laurier, former Vice-President Academic and provost; Dr. Mona Nemer, Vice-President of Research; Dr. David Park, Director of the University of Ottawa Brain and Mind Research Institute; and Dr. Bernard Leduc, CEO of Montfort Hospital.

“Leadership is about outcomes, improvements and evolutionary change," said Dr. Bradwejn in his farewell speech. "A leadership position is a gift. Whatever you do, you'll have an impact.”
