The University of Ottawa Faculty of Medicine, along with our academic partner Université de Lyon, is participating in a highly anticipated scientific exposition on October 17 as a part of the 30th edition of the Entretiens Jacques Cartier, a major arts and culture event in Montreal showcasing innovation to the public.

Specifically, three researchers from the University of Ottawa, Dr. Nadine Wiper-Bergeron, Dr. Jocelyn Côté and Dr. Jodi Warman, along with their colleagues from the Institut NeuroMyogène, Université de Lyon are partnering together for a one-day street show on “Stem Cells in Neuromuscular Diseases: A Scientific and Artistic Exploration.”

“The aim of Les Entretiens Jacques Cartier is for topics of science, arts, technology and innovation to be available and accessible to the public,” said Dr. Wiper-Bergeron. “We, in academia at the University of Ottawa, also want to make our research accessible to our community.”

This event is completely free and takes place on Tuesday, October 17 in Montreal at l’Union française, 429 avenue Viger Est. To register please visit the official event website.

The event will also encompass an art show of sculptures, photographs, videos, paintings and drawings on the interpretation of stem cells, neuromuscular diseases and medical research.

Students, researchers, doctors, patients and family members are encouraged to make art submissions by October 9 to Dr. Wiper-Bergeron at [email protected]

Please include dimension of the art work and any recommendations for display.
