Clinical care

We offer complete female and male fertility investigations and treatment, ovarian stimulation, intrauterine insemination, donor insemination, IVF, egg and sperm donation, gestational surrogacy, preimplantation genetic testing, surgical sperm retrieval and fertility preservation. We are a licensed ultrasound independent health facility and offer female fertility imaging. We are currently the only Ottawa-based MOH-funded IVF program. We have an active satellite program with Kingston and also have a collaboration with Newfoundland for IVF patients. We are proud to offer our medical care in English, French and Chinese. Visit the Ottawa Fertility Centre website to know more.

Research

Our division supports a wide variety of both clinical and basic science research. With regards to clinical research, areas of interest include the impact of gynecologic disorders on reproductive outcomes, recurrent pregnancy loss, optimizing frozen embryo transfer outcomes and evaluating fertility outcomes and improving care for the LGBTQ2S community.

Selected current clinical research studies include:

  • Multi-center collaborative OOXYD study: Correlation of oxidative stress and oocyte quality in fertility preservation
  • The use of home ovulation prediction kits in natural cycle frozen embryo transfer
  • Evaluating the impact of testosterone on ovarian reserve parameters

Education

Our division has a highly competitive fellowship program to train sub-specialists in Gynecologic Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility. This is a fully funded Royal College Accredited two-year program. This fellowship incorporates all Royal College Requirements for training in a fully individualized training program. Residents will gain extensive training in clinical or basic science research, and the medical and surgical care of infertility patients. We are also actively involved in the training of OB/Gyn residents and medical students.
