Claire Kendall
Dr. Claire Kendall is Associate Dean, Social Accountability at the Faculty of Medicine, University of Ottawa. As a Full Professor with the Department of Family Medicine, cross-appointed to the School of Epidemiology and Public Health, at the University of Ottawa, she holds a Clinical Research Chair in Strengthening Primary Care for Integrated Health Equity (Faculty of Medicine, University of Ottawa, 2020-2025). She is also a Senior Investigator at the Bruyère Research Institute and Clinicienne-chercheure, Institut du Savoir Montfort; and a practicing family physician with the Bruyère Family Health Team. She is a Senior Scientist at ICES, Affiliate Investigator in the Clinical Epidemiology Program at the Ottawa Hospital Research Institute, and Affiliate Scientist at the Li Ka Shing Knowledge Institute of St. Michael’s Hospital.
She holds a University of Ottawa, Faculty of Medicine Clinical Research Chair in Strengthening Primary Care for Integrated Health Equity with a program of research aimed at improving the delivery of primary care for underserved populations. Her research relies on multiple methodologies, including secondary analysis of the health administrative data held at ICES, primary collected cohort survey data, qualitative methods, and the meaningful involvement of patients and people with lived experience.
Laura Muldoon
Dr. Laura Muldoon is the Director of Social Medicine in Undergraduate Medical Education in the Faculty of Medicine at the University of Ottawa. She is also the Anglophone lead for the "Society, the Individual and Medicine" course in UGME. Laura is a member of the Department of Family Medicine and a practicing family physician at Somerset West Community Health Centre in Ottawa. Her research interests include primary care for people with barriers to access to health and health care and the functioning of interprofessional teams.
Carissa Grondin
Carissa Grondin is the Lead Coordinator, Program Management at the Office of Social Accountability. She graduated from the University of Ottawa with a bachelor’s degree in Fine Arts and a minor in communication in 2021. She has also received numerous awards and scholarships throughout her degree for her creativity and excellence. Following in her family’s footsteps with an entrepreneurial mind and leadership ambition, Ms. Grondin is also the Co-Owner and Manager of her family’s business, since 2018.
Christine Mathew
Christine Mathew is the Program Manager at the Office of Social Accountability. She holds a background in health and social care research, communications and philosophy. Her focus has included evidence synthesis projects around aging, homelessness, skills development, health equity, global health and others while at the Bruyere Research Institute. Drawing on her creative side, she runs a writing and editing company on the side for local businesses. Her guiding principle has always been to uphold the dignity of each human person and is why projects led by the Office of Social Accountability are very exciting for her.
