Professor Sayari is interested in the design and synthesis of inorganic porous materials such as zeolites and periodic mesoporous materials as well as organic-inorganic hybrid materials such as periodic mesoporous organosilicates and surface-functionalized inorganic materials. He also specializes in heterogeneous catalysis with projects in selective organic synthesis, light hydrocarbon activation and environmental catalysis. Further, Dr. Sayari has an extensive research program in gas separation and purification, including greenhouse gas mitigation.
