Previous research interests have included the characterization of the thermal, mechanical and optical properties of metallic and polymer thin films, the development of components for fiberoptic telecommunication networks, and a collaboration with the Institute for National Measurement Standards, National Research Council on the development of atomic time standards, including Canada’s first “Cesium Fountain” clock. Besides teaching and developing material for physics courses, Dr. Gigault is now collaborating with other scientists in the physics department in the field of experimental biophysics.
